xajez
I've been searching around here and have tried to get a 10.4.4 install on my physical hard drive for the past week or so, and I haven't had any luck. I've tried several iso's, some prepatched, some not, and I can't seem to figure it out. I'm on an AMD64 3800+ (no sse3) on an Asus A8V motherboard, running linux native. Since I don't have a dvd burner, I've got a 10.4.1 install I'm doing everything from in VMware. I followed Maxxuss' instructions twice now, and I keep running into the same problem. Everything installs just fine, and I've patched the kernel to my specific needs. I even tried replacing the SMBIOS(among other files) that was included in the patches, from a darwin cd, from the 10.4.1 install, you name it. As you can guess, the kernel panics shortly after it identifies the CPU, which it does just fine, but I get a dreaded "Unable to find driver for this platform:ACPI" message. I've tried just about every boot command I could think of (and ones that seemed promising through my searching) but nothing works. After messing with it for the past eight hours straight, I'm about ready to call it a day, but if anyone has any ideas or could point out something I've missed, I would appreciate it. What versions of os x have you tried to install? Im trying to get to the problem of whats wrong because theres a solution to the problem, there always is.. What rig are you using? take care Here's my rig: Asus A8V Deluxe (VIA® K8T800 Pro chipset) AMD 3800+ (no sse3 support) 1 GB RAM WD SATA 80 GB HDD (master) Maxtor ATA 30 GB HDD (for osx) I'm running Ubuntu, with 10.4.1 running as a VMware guest. I've installed 10.4.4 to the Maxtor following maxxuss' instructions, which requires me to copy the Packages folder to the root of my drive and edit two of the packages. It goes through and installs all of the packages I've selected, and I have copied the AppleSMBIOS kernel extension included in the patch archive, along with the ApplePS2Controller kernel extension. 10.4.1 boots and runs just fine. The packages install just fine. Darwin gets past the hardware checks, and all the kext's I have load fine. I'm going to play around with it later and see if I can't come up with anything. Thanks for the reply. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/11469-acpi-panic-under-vm-and-native/#findComment-72277 Share on other sites
