syphilis
Hello, I am trying to install on VMware-server-1.0.6.91891 with the kalyway-10.5.2 .iso burned to DVD. I created a Windows NT virtual disk with IDE drive, edited the config file to include paevm="true" and changed scsi0.present to false. The install seems to work (though very slowly with frequent hangs where the DVD stops spinning only to resume after several minutes) up to th point where the graphical screen displays (the sort of outer space star design like this http://appleology.com/images/space-desktop.png ) with a spinning cursor. The cursor spins and the screen sits like that for a while, the DVD occasionally ceases spinning then resumes, but after about 5-10 minutes my computer freezes to a crawl, i.e. the clock updates once every minute or two and I cannot move the cursor whether it be captured in the VM or on my desktop, eventually forcing me to reboot with the SysRq r-e-i-s-u-b sequence. I have a Phillips optical drive, intel core 2 duo with sse2 support (cat /proc/cpuinfo also displays ssse3 support but I don't know why there are three 's's...), 1.5 GB RAM, allocated 512MB for the VM, intel 945gm graphics, hardrive is SATA, created 8 GB IDE drive in VMware, and am running Gentoo Linux. Any advice on this issue? Thanks. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/114564-computer-freezes-mid-install/ Share on other sites
syphilis
Nobody has encountered this before? Well, I just created another VM but made it 13 gB in case somehow 8 was not enough. I will attempt again tonight, but any advice before that will still be very appreciated. Thanks.
