shamusl
I'm new to this, so go easy on me. I have: Asus P5L-VM 1394 4 GB DDR2-667mhz Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 (2.13ghz) Seagate Hard drive (SATA II 250GB) Nvidia 7600GT (XFX) When I boot from the DVD (that I burned at 1X speed to be sure of no corruption), I get the following error: (With Firewire enabled in BIOS) Firewire: (OHCI) Vendor ID 1106 ID 3044 PCI Now Active; guid 0011d80000dc8819; Max speed s400. Returns (after about 20 seconds): Firewire unable to determine security mode; defaulting to Full-Secure. Returns (after about 60-90 seconds of waiting): Still waiting for root device. With Firewire (1394) OFF: IOATA Controller device blocking port Returns (after 60-90 seconds): Still waiting for root device. Can anybody help me? I have absolutely no experience with nix commands or anything about mac's (have never used one). If there is absolutely any information I can give to help someone on these forums help me solve my problem, just ask. Tense
It's most likely because you are using a Sata HDD. Look here........ www.insanelymac.com/lofiversion/index.php/t17421.html and you should really search around before posting. You honestly won't get many answers if you ask questions that have been asked a million times before. shamusl
It's most likely because you are using a Sata HDD. Look here........ www.insanelymac.com/lofiversion/index.php/t17421.html and you should really search around before posting. You honestly won't get many answers if you ask questions that have been asked a million times before. How about instead of telling me to use a (bad) search feature, and then posting a link to a topic from 2 1/2 years ago, just tell me the answer. You really don't need to be an {censored} to new users because I didn't find a topic from 2 years ago. Tense
First. I am the ONLY one replying to you. So... I don't feel I am being an {censored}. PLUS...it's still relevant. It's because of your hard drive. It's Sata drivers are not compatible with the DVD. Stick it in an external USB case OR use and IDE. Second. There are like 100 posts on the subject. I just grabbed the first one I saw. Though I will admit the search sucks.... but you wouldn't even need it if you just looked around. I was actually just giving you advice to help you on the forum. But, run around calling people {censored}s. I will still see your post count at 8 when no one replies to you. OR you can try this....... A little more relevant I admit. forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=66834&pid=473939&mode=threaded&start=#entry473939 P.S. OH... Third. Most of us didn't run up in here saying "and just give me the answer". Your best friend is www.google.com. That is not a flame either. Trust me. It's the truth. No "{censored}ness" intended.
