neozeed
Ok this isnt for the timid First a list of what you'll need 1) a server you can reach from MacOSX .. windows, apple, nfs your choice. 2) a darwin cd 3) the deadmoo image 4) the appropriate SSE patches 5) a computer thats on the HCL 6) A small 7 gig + disk for temp booting 7) about 2+ hours. Ok first start decompressing the .img on a server that you can reach from osx. Now DD the img onto the small disk. (for this I use a bootable DVD with openbsd 3.7 (floppy37.fs) as the bootable image source. Its quicker and easier than all this "live cd" nonsense) Ok now with the dd'd small disk done, reboot into single user mode boot off the disk in single user mode (-s) reset the root password remove the AppleTPMACPI.kext reboot into single user mode, and apply the sse2 patches. reboot again into "normal" osx. If you need to remove video drivers, go ahead now, Ok now if that small disk is working, now its time to prep the 'big' disk. shut down your computer, remove the small disk (so we dont format it by accident) , and place the big one as the primary disk in your boot chain, then boot off of the darwin cd. Darwin doesnt have that many options, go ahead and install it, give the disk a trendy name and choose a root password, and reboot to make sure darwin boots. Ok now shut down the computer, place the darwin disk as second (slave) and the little one as primary. Ok now we boot up into osx, and map to the server with the moo image. Now we launch the "disk utility" (Applications, Utilities, Disk Utility). Go to File Open Disk image, and point it to the moo image on your server. Then you want it to restore the moo partition on the darwin partition into the destination (ie) big disk. Once its copied you should see the disk with a copy of OSX and the remainder will be much higher than the typical 1.2 gig. With that done, shutdown. Go ahead and remove the small disk, and place the big one as primary, and boot into single user, reset the passwords remove the AppleTPMACPI.kext, and reboot.... From here its like building the small disk... Oh and reset the permissions on the disk. Anyways I know that was a terrible write up im tired, but Im on a 40 gig disk now, so I know it works. Having a mac mini to bootstrap off of helps too! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/1142-installing-deadmoo-on-a-big-disk/ Share on other sites
