Saitek X45 Joystick?

So, here's a strange question:

 

Here's my joystick. Saitek X45.

 

 

I've seen people mention that it (and other joysticks) work in OS X, depending on the flightsim/game you're using it with.

 

 

I'd like to use it, though, directly in the OS. More specifically, I'd like to use it in video editing. The throttle would be a great jog control, with zoom in/out buttons on it, wheels to step frame by frame, and even a tiny joystick for mouse control.

 

 

Is this remotely possible? If so, where would I even begin to find information on doing this?
