gateway MT series laptop

sata hdd

deadmoo install (don't {censored} about not using an install dvd), i think version 10.4.1

boot_v8 under grub

the vmware images booted just fine in vmware, but this what happened after a linux dd install

(dd if=~/tiger.img of=/dev/sda4 bs=512(the skip=63 is missing because it is a partition))

So once i boot past grub and past boot_v8's selections, if no options are specified, I get the lovely gray apple screen, but a spinning thing never occurs. If I specify -v, my screen quickly fills with {censored} and then my screen goes black with no hard drive activity for 10 minutes of testing past this. -x fills my screen fills with a very long and seeminly repeating list of unreadable {censored} before going to the same idle black screen. during both instances of darkness, my processor fan comes on, leading me to believe it is a driver/kernel issue of some sort?

EDIT: tried booting with "boot: mach_kernel -v -s "Graphics Mode"="1024x768x32@60" " and that either automatically rebooted if i did not do safe mode, or it went back to black. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please help, I really want my os x on a real partition.

yeah thanks again for the help, I just broke down and _acquired_ a leopard dvd. installed it and after some tweaking it works great, installed it next to ubuntu 8.04, windows vista, windows xp, and solaris 10.

the everlasting black screen remains a mystery thanks to you guys! thank you, {censored} you, have a nice day.
