I used Kalyway leopard 10.5 to install on my HP TC4200. Everything works great when I have the installation DVD inserted in the external USB drive. however I want to make it boot straight off the leopard partition instead of hauling the install CD everywhere. I have read around and found the ./patch.sh solution and it tries to work but when it gets to the point where I am to change the MBR to disk0 it gives me "Permission Denied"

Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks a lot and I tried searching but I'm ultra new to the osx86 scene and honestly don't think I know what I'm searching for.

I guess what my question is, is how do I set my leopard partition to the active/bootable one. I go to terminal and type "fdisk -u /dev/rdisk0" and it says permission denied. does this for all fdisk options I have tried. Thanks again guys.

You need 2 do this as admin user.

1. (in terminal app) sudo -s (enter)

2. your admin password (you won 't see what you type)

3. fdisk -u /dev/rdisk0

That should work

This acts like it works but when I reboot I still get the black screen and no boot unless the cd is in the drive. Actually it won't boot even with the CD in it anymore. I am starting the reinstall now....is there anything special in the setup I could have missed? I did 1 partition, osx journaled format, installed sse2 support. Does it look like I missed anything? Thanks!

If I remember rightly with Kalyway you have to select a bootloader in custom installation either MBR or GUID

on the kalyway install it only has the choice for sse2, if I have sse3 should i just leave sse2 unchecked? is it one of those things where sse3 is installed automatically i think that might be what was causing the problem. Almost finished with the install. I will post results here. Thanks for the help also.now when I boot up it goes to the grey apple screen with the circle on the bottom going and after like 20 sec it reboots and comes back to the same place. ugh.....I installed the GUID boot up option during the installation and partitioned the HD to use GUID to boot. so frustrating i want this bad lol.
