Synaesthesia
The Dell Inspiron 1525 isn't small, it's quite large actually. It's a 15" laptop. There are many such laptops that work well with OS X. You need to look for compatible hardware. What is your approximate price range? We have had this discussion a few times. There are laptops from Acer, Dell, HP, Lenovo, and other brands that work well. For starters, look at some of the (many) threads in this section on compatible laptops, and also at the OSX86 Wiki, there are Hardware Compatibility Lists. I recommend the ones for 10.4.8, 10.5.1 and 10.5.2 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/113488-what-is-the-best-small-notebook-to-use/#findComment-803991 Share on other sites

sWORDs
When going for cheap, the Acer Extensa 5220 is a nice laptop. It's available for 370 euro's here with 1 gig mem and a Celeron 1.83 GHz, which already works fine (everything works but bluetooth/lan so shutdown, reboot, sleep, quartz extreme, wlan, sound). And for 20 euro's you can expand the memory to 2 gig. The nicest thing about it is that it has a socket p for the processor, so you can actually install a penryn in it. It's 2.8kg. 10.5.4 works perfect. The only downsides are: No lan No Bluetooth X3100 (QE works however a 8600 would have been nicer) 5400 rpm harddrive Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/113488-what-is-the-best-small-notebook-to-use/#findComment-804940 Share on other sites
Doron
the most important things for me in a laptop are lan (wifi and cable) and bt i don't think 800$ is so cheap, i got the Inspiron 1525 which can ran vista very good. he got 1.8/2ghz and 2/3gb ram in 700/800$. i read it works pretty great with 10.5.2, what do you think about this laptop? * Install Method: Kalyway 10.5.2 * Video: Intel x3100 (GM965/GL960 8086,2A02). Using IntelGMAX3100 Drivers (From Drivers upgrade) + Natit.kext from http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry544955. Enabled VNC (system prefs), then on first reboot, when screen goes black, connect from another machine via VNC, and change resolution to 1280x800. Configure spaces to have corner hot-spot for sleep. Then on reboot when the screen goes black, move mouse to the corner to wake it up. Works Great! * Webcam: works OOB * WiFi: Working - "Dell 1395 WLAN"=Broadcom BCM4310, DevId=4315 - Reboot with -s, go to /Broadcom-Script folder, edit script so it includes dev id 4315. Run script. * Sound: Speakers Working, Headphones not working: Intel HDA/Sigmatel STAC9228 - had to install patch (http://wiki.taruga.net/tiki-index.php Get prepatched kext for STAC9228) * Using dual cores. . . Synaesthesia
Sweet. Although my favourite is the Dell Vostro with nVidia graphics . Your choice, really, most Dell laptops work great, and you can customize to your heart's content. :-) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/113488-what-is-the-best-small-notebook-to-use/#findComment-806151 Share on other sites

OsxWade
I was looking for a good notebook to use as well and settled on a vostro they usually have a little better deals. If you need some coupons or need to see what the best deals are at the moment over at consumercowboy they have all the best deals on Lenovo, Dell and HP. Hope this helps you out and saves you some cash.
