ObsidianPhoenix
Hi there. I'm a noob to the Mac OS world but I am intrigued by the work I've seen. I installed the iATKOS 2.0i (Leopard 10.5.2) on my Compaq c762NR. Worked great- sound, video, and it sees my internal Realtek Ethernet NIC. I have built-in Atheros 5007 wireless but I have been unable to get that to work. I also have a Belkin USB Wireless G adapter, 4xxx version. I downloaded the Ralink drivers and installed it, but the RA USB wireless utility won't see the USB adapter (the adapter has the green light on it when I plug it in). Unplugging and reconnecting the adapter doesn't work. Same as booting up with it attached and detached. I also tried the Belkin 10.3 drivers - nothing. As a side note, USB mouse and USB thumb drive works fine in Mac OS. I've gone to System Preference > Network and I don't see an option to add the USB device. Yet, if I go to System Profiler, I can look under USB 2.0, it sees a WLAN device, sees it as Belkin, and gives the device information. Could someone please help? What am I doing wrong or what else can I do to get this to work? I'm stuck and getting wireless to work would be what puts this over the edge for me (completely replacing Vista with Mac OS on the notebook). Thank you in advance. Nitroboy
This guy had the same problem: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=112987 Somewhere in there, there should be a driver that you can download and hopefully it will work for you. ObsidianPhoenix
Nitroboy, thank you for the response. I had downloaded a file called V4_Mac.zip elsewhere on this forum (after so many searches, it's hard to remember anymore!) and used that file to no avail, but I will try this specific one when I get home tonight. If there any other thoughts / ideas, I would greatly appreciate hearing them. ObsidianPhoenix
Just wanted to add- after a lot of futzing around and spending more than a few hours total on this issue, I went ahead and purchased a Hawking USB 108 Wireless adapter. Works great; in fact, I am using it on my newly built Hackintosh. Pretty cheap too. Thanks again for all your help and I'll be seeing you guys around. ObsidianPhoenix
After upgrading to 10.5.3 I futzed around again and found my problem was that I needed the Zydas drivers (I didn't install them properly last time). Worked great, except I had to make sure my SSID was not hidden.
