aceshigh
Hey all, Great news.......about a month back I was able to pull off a flawless install on a core 2 quad 6600 (@ 3.0ghz) on a gigabyte GA-P35-S3G motherboard. I used the 10.5.2 distro and I must say that the installation was flawless. I just booted from the disc, partioned guid, and 10 minutes later it restarted and loaded OSX. I did not need to make any tweaks. Now I've got 2 post installation issues. My dvd drive which I installed from was working fine (duh i installed from it), but now when OSX starts up, and I go to the menu bar and click on the eject Icon it says no drive. When I go to system profiler and click on ATA its blank, when I click on disc burning, says i dont have one....... I've checked in bios it lists my Phillips drive as a ata device......however when osx loads its not there. Anyone know wats up with that???? Also another 2 minor issues. the onboard sound is Realtek AL662 codec. I cannot find a audio patch to get sound working........and the LAN is Realtek 8111B chip (10/100/1000 Mbit), which works, but I remember reading something about patching this to get bonjour and filesharing working....... I've tried this board out with EVGA 8600GT ssc 256meg ddr3 pcie card. everything worked, QE, coreimage, dual displays, dual outs, all resolutions. And I've tried it with an EVGA 7300gs 256meg ddr2 pcie card, with all res, QE, Coreimage working. I haven't had time to try it with dual displays yet since my sister is borrowing one of my 24 inch monitors. Some help would be GREATLY appreciated....... I really love this community......thanks to all the great advice and knowledge that is freely passed around and given here, I've put together 4 OSX systems......3 core2duos and one core2quad........all cores working, and this morning I xbenched the quad core, and it returned a result of 249. Rock on!!!! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/113183-issues-with-dvd-drive/ Share on other sites
