I have an ecs p4m800 board w. 8237 southbridge. I am using the new 10.4.5 prepatched torrent that is floating around (works great) and at bootup I get an error saying that appleviaata.kext fails to load and I need to reinstall it. This also happened w/ my 10.4.3 install. I would like it to load so I can use my sata drives. Is thier a bios setting that I am missing? What am I doing wrong? HELP

This is what I did, I'm in 10.4.5, but give it a shot:

Open a terminal:

cd /System/Library/Extensions

sudo chown -R root:wheel AppleVIAATA.kext

sudo chmod -R 755 AppleVIAATA.kext

sudo kextload AppleVIAATA.kext

that's what I did, and it seems to have fixed the problem.
