Hey everyone,

PC Specs are:

Intel C2Q Q6600

DG33TL mobo (Intel)

GMA3100

2GB OCZ Platinum Rev. 2 RAM

and I successfully managed to install OSx86 (iAtkos 2.0i) by attaching my HDD to another PC as I was evading this error, but it has returned when trying to boot OSX. Basically, it just says "Waiting for boot device with UUID *random string of error numbers*". I have tried everything, for some reason I can't make the DVD drive the IDE master which many people have said worked and I even tried a SATA HDD and the same error was returned.

I googled it and even searched this site only to find that the people with the exact same problem never recieved help so I couldn't find anything that could help. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help :)

It would stop loading at this line of text on the installer:

"Waiting for boot volume with UUID *randomly generated array of numbers and letters*" Then

"Waiting on <dict ID='0'><key>IOProviderClass</key><string ID='1'>IOResources</string><key>IOResourceMatch</key><string ID='2'>boot-uuid-media</string></dict>"

System specs are:

DG33TL Mobo

Intel C2Q Q6600

2GB OCZ Platinum RAM

Integrated graphics

160GB Maxtor IDE HDD

Now this is a drive related issue. I tried a SATA drive as well but it didn't work. I even messed around in the BIOS with different settings but that also failed. Some people have reported success with having the IDE HDD as the master and DVD drive as a slave but I couldn't do that as the DVD drive and HDD wouldn't work

Try this, it may help. What have you got to loose?

I have the same exact problem as well.

my set up: intel duo core e 2140, intel dg33tl, 2 sata hds, 1 ide lg dvdrw

any solution?

This error may may be related to one or more of the following:

- BIOS settings for AHCI (or lack thereof)

- SATA and/or motherboard kexts

- partitioning scheme

Are you using Chameleon or a similar boot loader? If not, it might help to do so. Also experiment with your hard drive partitioning options. Leopard, by default, searches for GUID, but some installation methods or ISO builds work off MBR to support those with multiple OSes.

You might also want to try using the packages put together by Kalyway. I had no success using those built by iAtkos.

The goal is to get as close to a retail installation as possible, so all the components work seamlessly. Try following one of these methods of installation:

ForestGuardian, thank you very much for your reply.

I have tried the Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD and iAtkos, it didn't work and both stuck at: waitng for boot voulmn.......

I searched this forum and some said IT HAS TO BE A SATA DVDRW , a PCI-E video card(onboard video didn't work)..any suggestions...?.

You're right; in the case of some custom builds like Kalyway, you can only boot from a SATA optical drive. Where are you getting the boot error, on the DVD or on your HD? Have you successfully installed Leopard before (regardless of startup issues)?

If you are able to boot from a DVD build such a Kalyway, iAtkos, or iDeneb, DO NOT select any of the video packages prior to installation. Most of the time, you'll be able to boot up and still see the multi-lingual video introduction. It will be slow or choppy, but at least it'll get you to the post-installation process. iDeneb in particular has done well for me - except for audio and networking; but audio drivers are readily available, and if you already have a working Windows computer, you can easily copy and transfer downloaded files.

In the meantime, look up the technical speficiations of your motherboard, and try to match what's on the custom images. Another option is to get as close to a minimal installation as you can. If you can startup from the DVD, then you're already halfway there. Most HD installations fail due to conflicting or incompatible kexts. A minimal installation can help you avoid boot problems, then allow you to install extensions later.

Good luck.

hey bluepigfx

did you ever fix this issue ?

You're right; in the case of some custom builds like Kalyway, you can only boot from a SATA optical drive.

wrong.

Various Kalyway, iAtkos, JaS, XxX and iPC DVDs all boot up fine from my PATA drive.

It doesn't matter if your optical drives are SATA or PATA.

The following is all that matters:

-that the install DVD has a driver on it for the controller that your drive is attached to and that it loads this driver during the boot process.

-that the DVD drive - if it's PATA - is set as master device on the channel, and

-if it's SATA - that the controller is set to AHCI mode.

Now, I can boot from all the DVDs mentioned above but the only one that actually reaches the installer is iPC 10.5.6, because it is the only OSX86 DVD (that I know of) which has a driver for the Marvell 6121 PATA controller on my ASUS P5Q-E motherboard.

There are also install DVDs that will have the required PATA controller driver available under custom install, but NOT during boot.

The most compatible drive controllers for Leopard are Intel ICH5 to ICH10, raid or non-raid. IIRC most Intel Macs have the ICH8. I'm fairly sure that the only Intel Mac that actually has a dedicated PATA controller is the Apple TV.

If your drives are connected to Intel ICH5 to 10 you have nothing to worry about.

JMicron and nForce PATA controller drivers are available on almost all OSx86 distros.

For other brands..look up the list of included drivers before downloading your OSx86 DVD.
