iTrooper
Hey Gang, I've been trying to dig around for any information regarding my problem but with very little success. So here is what the problem is, I'm sure it's a very common one, but here's where it gets a bit weird. Lets begin.... I have a Uphuck 10.4.9 1.3 Installation disk. I created 2 partitions, one named Macintosh_1 and the other Macintosh_2, and make sure it was set to master boot record, and picked what drivers and kernals I felt would be suitable to run it. I selected what I felt was the right files to make it work. The hard drive being used for the Mac OS install is IDE, although there is a larger SATA drive in there which doesn't get detected. After the install, it worked perfectly minus sound, so I went back, selected the realtek drivers and rebooted, it worked and played sound without a problem. Only downside I needed to merge back the two partitions back into one, so the hard drive could have all the space for the Mac OS. This of course involves a reformat so the partitions can be merged back into one again. So after reloading my DVD, I went back and wrote down what choices I made earlier to make sure I could get it booting up again, then did the wipe again and reinstall. Theoretically, this should all work fine, but instead it now sits on the Darwin/x86 boot screen and says Use UpDown Keys to select the startup volume. hd(0,1) Macintosh and won't go past that no matter what, I've reformatted, repartitioned, re-this, than and ther other, for some reason, I can't seem to bloody get the OS running again like I did before, it's confusing. I made sure to enter all the correct choices during the install, and the master boot record. So why isn't it working this time around. I know that disk holds the potential to make the computer boot a perfect working Mac OS. Hardware Details if anyone needs to know, it's not my computer, so I'm doing my best to identify what he has in it. I'd run CPUID on it, but he has no operating system on it right now. ______________________________________ The motherboard he's using is this one http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=4COREDUAL-VSTA GeForce 7600 GT 256mb AMIBIOS - 4CoreDual-VSTA Bios P1.50 CPU Intel Core 2 CPU 6320 @ 1.86Ghz 64bit Supported DDRII533 1Gig Ram at 266Mhz Here's the info about the board below from the website to save some folks a trip 4COREDUAL-VSTA 1. kytzu
Try to partition the disk with another tool (ex hiren's boot cd) and then use disk utility from installation dvd only to erase the partition and format as HFSJournaled. iTrooper
Well I've taken a look at the partition in DiskUtil (when the Uphack boot starts up), and it was already formatted as HFSJournaled (or Mac OS Extended [Journaled] as it calls it) and set to MBR. What's strange was it worked the first time and now it doesn't, which makes little sense. So how will reformatting it again as HFSJournaled and MBR sort the problem out? Cuz I've formatted that drive several times now and still can't get it to start up again like it did before.
