Eddtr
Hi all, I installed Kalyway 10.5.2 yesterday and the whole installation process went very smoothly and completed. Now i have vista already installed on one harddrive and i installed this on a separate hard drive. When i restarted the computer to go to osx it went straight to vista. Fair enough i thought at least vista still worked. When i restart my pc i have a option to choose a boot menu in the bios, i do this and it asks which hard drive i wish to boot up from.I chose the one with OSX on it and then it loads a few things and restarts, it restarts every time i choose the OSX hard drive i don't understand. I reinstalled osx but still no luck. I installed it on a ide hard drive pentium D 3000ghz dual core ASRock Conroe 1333 motherboard 2048 Ram ati radeon 2400 HD Should it work first of all and if yes i can i install it so it works! shoul i use iATKOS? Thanks in advance - god i want a mac just cant afford it. in the future when i can my house will look like a apple mac shop!!!! hastings
I'm still new to osx86 (only about a months worth of experience) but our systems are very similar and this is how I went through my installation. And don't worry, Kalyway works great. Since you're running a pentium D make sure you click the customize button at the bottom left. Uncheck additional languages and additional fonts. Then under Kernels, make sure the first option (something like 9.2-sleep) is selected and NOTHING else. Next go down to an area that says something like patches. Select boot with cpus=1. While this is most likely not your problem, sometimes dual processors can cause a reboot. If that doesn't work, play around with your installation settings. If you still continue to reboot after making sure you have the correct kernel and the cpus=1 patch is selected and trying some different settings yourself, then you may want to try another installation. I would recommend Iaktos if Kalyway fails (try really hard to get Kalyway though.. Iaktos requires a little more work after the installation for some), then Leo4all as a last resort. Eddtr
thanks for the advice hastings will try that. the good thing about this is i can reinstall loads of times without buggering up the vista system and it only takes 25 mins to install . Will change the setting later and have a go Can i ask dos everything work in your osx setup or do some things not work like putting the computer to sleep and restarting Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/112668-keeps-restarting-in-a-loop/#findComment-797425 Share on other sites
Eddtr
right hastings i did what you said and i got it to go to the screen with the big apple logo on - i thought i had cracked it but to no avail It still restarts - it looks like its going to work then bang. So i reinstalled it again changed a few things included all defaults plus the cpu 1 patch and i added ati graphics card support - still the same result installs fine then reports like normal goes into the apple loading screen then restarts in a cycle Any other ideas peeps? Should i try another install disk - dont really want to as kalyway seems like the bees knees! thanks in adavance Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/112668-keeps-restarting-in-a-loop/#findComment-797713 Share on other sites

If you have, this may be a problem with your bios, which can probably be fixed without too much of a problem.thanks for the advice hastings will try that. the good thing about this is i can reinstall loads of times without buggering up the vista system and it only takes 25 mins to install . hastings
I think I used GUID (Kalyway default I think?), but considering that you're dual booting you should be using MBR Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/112668-keeps-restarting-in-a-loop/#findComment-798083 Share on other sites
Eddtr
will give it another try later - installed it about five times now and it keeps restarting. The funny thing is the more times i do it the more errors are coming up when it starts from the disk, and then when it trys to boot up the osx i get loads of errors. Cant explain it, the only thing i can think of is that the continued use of installing osx is degrading the harddrive or something!
