discostu668
hi there, have been trying to install on my dell dimension 9150 pentium D 830 dual core 3.0ghz 4gb ram with nvidia geforce 7600gt system. i get to the OSX installation, but when going into disk utility, my hd is not visible to select (i am trying to install this onto a separate internal SATA hd). the only thing that is visible is my DVD burner. what am i doing wrong? Gujal
Your SATA Drive needs to be setup as AHCI in BIOS. Other option is to use Leo4allv3 DVD as it has modified PIIXATA driver which supports SATA drives in IDE mode on ICHx chipsets Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/112468-installation-does-not-see-hd/#findComment-796960 Share on other sites
discostu668
thanks! i tried the install with kalyway 10.5.2 - that worked. i've managed to install OSX and boot after installation. now i'm stuck when i get to the part where it asks me if i already own a mac, i select the 'do not transfer' option and it loops me back to the beginning 'welcome' animation. same thing happens if i select the first option. if i select the middle two options, it goes to the next dialogue box, but it goes no further than that since i do not have another volume to transfer from or time machine back up. i'm not sure if i selected the right options when i selected 'customize' during the installation or whether i just leave it altogether and go straight to install. i'll keep searching online, i'm *almost* there. iMotox
Hi, I have the same problem has you had. Kalyway will not find my hard drive. I was just wondering how you went about fixing this. I have 1 normal drive and a SATA drive on which I wish to install Kalyway on but I would install on the normal hard drive if need be. Thanks for all your help in advanced, iMotox Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/112468-installation-does-not-see-hd/#findComment-797107 Share on other sites
discostu668
imotox, i sent you a message - hope it's of some use. i got past the loop problem. i re-enabled my NIC within the bios and it got past that no problem. i can now boot OSX on my pc! except now i don't have any audio nor do i have the ability to connect to the internets. Gujal
Looks like your Audio is Sigmatel 9200. Get Taruga's AppleHDAPatcher and Stac92xx codec dump and patch your AppleHDA.kext which will give you sound. Also the Wired Ethernet Intel Pro 1000 is supposed to work out of the box Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/112468-installation-does-not-see-hd/#findComment-797143 Share on other sites

mrbonkers
enable your onboard sound in bios. when you boot into windows, go to device properties and disable it? in fact, why do you want to disable the onboard sound in windows? you can set your creative sound card as default. discostu668
xfidelity - re-enabled my onboard sound, booted into windows and allowed windows to install drivers. rebooted into osx. still no sound. if i go into system prefs --> sound, it tells me there is no output device available. on the other hand, i have been able to connect to the internet (i'm in OSX right now as i type this) hardwired with my onboard NIC. the odd thing: when i go into system prefs --> network, it says my ethernet cable is unplugged, but it shows an IP address and connects to the internet just fine! what i would like/prefer is to be able to connect using my wireless adapter instead.
