maximilian298453
I am building my first hackintosh around the Asus p5gc mx 1333 motherboard, but its onboard LAN isn't compatible so I disabled it in the BIOS. Several posts have recommended using a cheap Realtek 8139 chipset pci card instead, so I picked one up, made by Tenda. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be recognized and the Realtek 8139 chip is supposed to work out of the box, so there are no instructions (well, that I could find) for what to do in the event that it doesn't. Does anyone have any ideas for what else to try (or that I may be doing wrong)? Thanks in advance! maximilian298453
While waiting I got the card working under my winXP dual boot side. So I know the card works at least. Denicio
Hi there! Could you go to Device Manager in Windows and check the Hardware iD of this card and report your findings? You should be able to see the 8139 iD at some point. I so, then this is really weird. If its something different we'll try to find a solution for you (different chipset). maximilian298453
Assuming I'm looking in the right place (the details tab of the properties info), it says the following: PCI\VEN_1317&DEV_0985&SUBSYS_12161113&REV_11\4&CF81C54&0&08F0 If I have this right, this means that 0985 is the device ID, so no 8139. This is odd given the chip on the card itself has "8139" right on it (no point mentioning the advertising claim as they lie all the time...). Maybe I just need another card? Often, exact card details (like version number) are omitted on the forums and compatibility lists unfortunately.
