dyslexicmarc
what's up guys? I got kalyway 10.5.4 working perfectly on my dell inspiron 1525, but I really wish I would have setup a windows partition too.. So, now that i'm running OSX how can I go back and install a separate bootable partition for windows? I would just run a virtual machine but I'm wanting to run video games so any spare video memory is needed. Thanks for any help. kytzu
- resize your HFS+ partition if necesarry to create some space for windows partition (this I don't know how) - use hirens boot cd and start partition magic (or another partition tool) and create a NTFS partition - install windows and NTFS partition will become active by default and no more OSX boot option - now you can change the active partition back do hfs and get darwin bootloader back or - install macdrive in windows, get /usr/standalone/i386/chain0 file from osx partition, put it on c:\ and add in boot.ini c:\chain0="osx" and you'll have a dual boot menu wint win and osx Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/112211-how-can-i-setup-a-windows-partition-choice-upon-boot/#findComment-794417 Share on other sites

I used a boot cd gparted and marked the partition as boot or active something of that nature. Then installed vista and as he said you can use chain0 file which i found on this forum somewhere google it prob pull it up too. Um people say easybcd will also work in windows buti could not figure it out...
