grimdeath9740
Hello, I am happy to be making my first post on here with my very first hackintosh computer I installed using: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=98086 Everything went really smoothly, no troubles during installation and I have been playing with my install for a couple days trying a few things out, installed firefox and adium no problem. I have had a few issues and after browsing the forums looking for answers on my own I cannot tell for sure if these issues are all fixable so I will create a list in order of importance and you guys can just let me know: 1. Since install I have not been able to use my ps2 mouse unless I unplug and then replug it back in. It works perfectly after that. Is there a way to resolve this? I only have a usb mouse and this keyboard so another board is not an option. I am running a Logitech Elite Keyboard LE (update: nearly working, read below!) 2. I cannot restart the computer, it acts like it is working but my case lights stay on and it goes to a black screen, have to use my physical case button to restart. Shut down works perfectly in like 3 seconds. I also noticed that when my restart/shut down screws up my MS Vista clock is off by a few hours, date and minutes are correct, just the hours are off. 3. I am about 95% sure it is not possible but do you guys know of any known way of getting a Creative Audigy 2zs Gamer sound card working? Hacked driver, etc.. I do not want to have to switch cables everytime I go from windows and back. 4. It is fairly stable but I would like to see if it would be to my advantage to upgrade to 10.5.3 (or whatever the newest update is) Also I have seen topics concerning "combo updates" are those in place of using the system update? Also I have seen some negative posts that make me think I could receive more problems then gains in updating, is this true? I also wasnt sure what the Kext file was for with my install, can someone explain if I need those files? 5. Can I configure my keyboard to work closer to windows with Control working instead of Alt for like Control+C to copy, etc..that stuff is just so ingrained in me! 6. Some streaming videos load and start to play but then pause, I can restart them but they pause a few moments later. I have tested this on YouTube and Gametrailers.com with the pausing happening every few seconds. Gamespot videos seem to work though. Perhaps this is a flash video issue? Those are the burning questions on the top of my list, let me know if you need any other details from me to answer them, I have posted my system specs in my signature! Thanks! grimdeath9740
I believe I have found a fix for my keyboard issue: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...ite+keyboard+le (post #10) Can anyone walk me through the steps for doing this? How do I interact with my install disc to do this since the OS is already installed and running? Launching the disc from the OS just gives me an option to "install Mac OSX". I was able to reboot, follow the "hit any key for options" and type in the: -f -v -legacy Lots of text scrolled by really quickly and then it eventually booted back into Mac OS like normal without a working keyboard still...did I miss something? Sounds like a good learning experience, just let me know *edit* I thought I would try digging out an old ps2 to usb converter to see if I could get my mouse working on ps2 as well, but no luck, its a Logitech G5 and just wasnt recononized, no lights on it at all. *edit2* I beleive I have fixed my problem with the ps2 keyboard, I used this kext file: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=21952 and installed it using Kext Helper b7. I received a error below on restart but the keyboard was working without needing to be unplugged! I logged out and back in and did not receive the error again but I when I tried a shutdown/restart I am met with it after loading the desktop again. If I can get rid of this error I think that will be on problem off the list: *edit3* wow I am editing this a lot just shows I am trying here guys! Ok looking a bit further down on that page I see an option geared specifically towards the ps2/usb setup I have, I guess I need to figure out how to restore back to the default ps2 controller kext and then I will follow those instructions. My current setup is acceptable for now though since at least I do not have to get up and dig behind my case every 5 minutes.
