alien2xx
HP Pavilion dv5224nr AMD Turion 64 2,2GHz 2 GB memory Running Leo4Allv3 with 10.5.3 Triple-boot - Vista, Windows Server 2008 and Leo.. Whenever I boot to Leo first thing of the day (using correct time zone btw) the clock always shows its 4 hours behind, this makes the bios change the clock back 4 hours... so if I boot into windows right after then windows reports the time screwed... If I boot into windows 'first' thing of the day the time is correct as it should be (with the correct time zone) and then I reboot and get into leo and I see its clock showing 4 hours behind... If I correct the time on Leo and then go to windows then widows shows as its 4 hours ahead of the real time... wtf? Always is exact 4 hours, I double check timezones and they are all correct on all 3 OS's... Time zones and times are correct on all 3 systems... what could be the problem? this is driving me crazy any suggestions? I think this behavior started when I installed 10.5.3 update.... Any suggestions? Thanks... Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/111928-leo-always-boot-4-hours-behind-why/ Share on other sites
alien2xx
I found 2 possible solutions so far which I will try later: Option 1.- Move the TimeZone on Mac OS X to a timezone 4 hours ahead so it may match times between Windows and OSX Option 2.- Try this, load appletime.exe (found inside bootcamp package) to the startup on Windows vista (or use it as a service) as explained on this site: http://swmirror.org/drupal/?q=node/32 Any other suggestions? Thanks! TimeFix.zip Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/111928-leo-always-boot-4-hours-behind-why/#findComment-792951 Share on other sites
Gujal
Option 2 is the right solution. Worked fine for me on both Vista and XP Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/111928-leo-always-boot-4-hours-behind-why/#findComment-792969 Share on other sites
alien2xx
Option 2 is the right solution. Worked fine for me on both Vista and XP Other solution... maybe? It seems like by just opening "Date & Time" under System Preferences applet the time corrects itself to the correct time... is there any way to have "Date & Time" window open automatically at login? I would not mind just closing that windows once I am in... When the window opens it contacts the NTP server to get the correct time... if I dont select any NTP then there is no change. Just wondering... this is a annoying bug... Thanks EDIT: I tested the little app, it does not work for me... Scratch this idea, if I change the time in Mac OS it changes the bios clock.. and then when i reboot into windows then the time in Vista and Windows Server is screwed... if I fix it then MAC OS is bad when I reboot into it.... it seems like Option 1 is the one that works... being MAC OS on a different time zone keeps the time I wanted and it does not change the bios... Woow... its MAC OS screwy or what... I have read posts all over with the same problem... Biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig Bummer! Gujal
Windows is the screwy one as it is the only OS which uses local time in RTC. Every other OS uses UTC (also known as GMT) in the RTC. The reason Appletime.exe didnt work for you is perhaps you are running it as an User. It needs Administrative privileges to change System time. Search for articles on how to install appletime.exe as a service which will work correctly (using Admin privileges) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/111928-leo-always-boot-4-hours-behind-why/#findComment-794781 Share on other sites
