fastswimguy
Okay, So I've read a lot on this topic, but I can't seem to find an answer. I really appreciate anyone who tries to help me out with this problem. Here is my problem: I'm currently running windows XP. I'm trying to create a partition to boot OS X. But I can't seem to successfully do this. This first thing I did, based on the first tutorial that I followed, was to set aside some unformatted free space. I then tried to use DISKPART to create a primary partition with the "id=af", but DISKPART kept telling me that it couldn't create a primary partition (even though I only had one primary partition at this point.). When I booted up the OS X installer (iATKOS), there was no partition that I was able to erase using disk utility. This next thing that I did, following another tutorial, was to create a FAT32 partition in Windows, and to then go into Disk Utility. I tried to erase that partition, by first selecting MS-DOS (FAT) and then Erase, which was successful because I could verify and repair disk in First Aid, and then I selected MAC OS EXTENDED (Journaled) and erased the disk yet again. Then I tried install it and the installer could still not find the partition. Also, in windows, this disk now just shows up as unrecognized space, so I think that it did change from the FAT32. What is going on? Thanks for anyone who helps me!
