I've got the original 10.4.4 install cd, been wrestling with it for a while. There's a lot of miss-information out there or maybe they're just for different versions and aren't specifying. I don't have a previous install of 10.4.3 and due to my limited bandwidth I can't download a prepatched dvd, this one took me forever to get!

Either way, does anyone know of an installation guide that starts with the original cd and no prior installation to get this to work, perferably in vmware. The Maxxuss guides only work with a pre-existing installation, and the ppf files like myzar's seem to only be against a pre-patched iso which I have no clue what was done to it and I can't download because they're 4+gb.

Here's what I've done so far

I got the dmg from the p-bay 3437718

Used Ultraiso to convert it to an iso

Used TransMac 7.3 to copy in the files from Maxxuss -> iso:

Prepatched_Kernels/mach_kernel.all -> mach_kernel

com.apple.Boot.plist -> Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist

edited System/Installation/Packages/OSInstall.mpgk/Contents/OSInstall.dist on the iso to make the hwbeModelCheck() function return true;

That's about all I've done, I figured I would at least get a boot message saying my hardware wasn't compatible, but it isn't even recognized as bootable.

Can anyone give me some advice here?

That's my whole problem, I don't even get that, it's like I don't even have a dvd in there. I've only tried this on vmware because I don't have a dvd writer, so I've been using Alcohol 120% to mount the image, then having vmware boot off the virtual drive. Completely unmodified does the same as modified, I mounted a windows xp iso and it booted right up, so I don't know what I'm doing wrong here.
