But as I have no other one - will let you know where i got with this one:

Let's start with Kalyway 10.5.2:

When rebooted it goes through the normal text boot (few lines with info appears) and than it goes into more "graphic-based-text. This is where it freezes forever.

The message that it dies on says "APIC problem" - and freezes totally - need to hold Power button for few secs to bring it down.

When reached a "Select a Destination screen" clicked on Utilities and Deleted all existing partitions with Disk utility.

Created set of one partition (tried 2,3 - multiple - no additional "progress effect" :( )

Clicked on "maczus" labelled hdd and clicked continue.

on the Install Summary - clicked Customize

Here is the choice tree:

uff - a lot to rewrite from the screen again.. :)

If I install it with default selection system boots up at complete install and apple logo appears on the grey background.

Then after a while the progres status (rotating pin-logo) stops. Mouse arrow or colorfull baloon appears from time to time but this is the end of story.

So I had to choose more:

From the above I have installed (in iATKOS as Kalyway freezes at DVD boot):

GMA 950(skip by default) 268KB

.

The installation is sucessfull - system reboots with gray background - a nice blue background appears for 1 or 2 sec and black screen.

The system seems to be working fine in background but.....nothing happens.

-v option goes till the end and brings up the blue background (same as above) and black screen again.

I've been using the Install guide for Dell D630 - available here -> http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...600&hl=d630

but it seems that this solution is not for the latest version of releases.

Will update you as soon as I get more.

Now downloading Kalyway 10.5.1 and JAS to try with.

....

Any help - really welcome :)

Yesss... got the fan spinning..

After installed with the above ... same situation with blue background - but I got some thoughts and connected the external LCD.

after boot prompt from hard drive

clicked Fn+F8 - switches between LCD

few lcd blinks and you can unplug the external LCD as the laptop is working fine now!

the problem is that whenever you start iAtkos - you need to have (for boot period) external LCD connected.

working on it now...

  • 10 months later...

Hey are you still using 10.5.2? I have been trying to install 10.5.6 and have been pulling my hair out trying to get it loaded onto my 630

. I have a 620 for work & it works fine on that one. I had no idea it would be such a pain in the butt to get the 630 up an running.
