cracko_PL
Yes, It's truely a challenge. Force Kalyway and iAtkos to start on Dell D630 which in my opinion is a crappy laptop. Force Kalyway and iAtkos to start on Dell D630 which in my opinion is a crappy laptop. But as I have no other one - will let you know where i got with this one: Let's start with Kalyway 10.5.2: When rebooted it goes through the normal text boot (few lines with info appears) and than it goes into more "graphic-based-text. This is where it freezes forever. The message that it dies on says "APIC problem" - and freezes totally - need to hold Power button for few secs to bring it down. When reached a "Select a Destination screen" clicked on Utilities and Deleted all existing partitions with Disk utility. Created set of one partition (tried 2,3 - multiple - no additional "progress effect" ) Clicked on "maczus" labelled hdd and clicked continue. on the Install Summary - clicked Customize Here is the choice tree: Name(Action)Size iATKOS V2.0i Main System(install by default)4.9 GB Darwin Bootloader(install by default)20.0 KB ____STOCK FILES section AppleACPIPlatform.kext(skip by default)1000 KB Kernel 9.2.0(skip by default)9.8 KB Kernel 9.2.2(skip by default)10.4 MB ____ADDITIONAL PATCHES section Darwin X86 for MBR (Non-EFI) (skip by default) 20.0KB Kernel 9.2.0 ToH (skip by default) 4.8 MB ___________nForce kernels sub-section Kernel 9.2.0 nForce Core EFI (skip by default) 4.8 MB Kernel 9.2.0 nForce Core Non-EFI (skip by default) 4.8 MB Kernel 9.2.0 nForce SSE Non-Efi (skip by default) 4.8MB ___________SMBIOS drivers AppleSMBIOS netkas(skip by default) 104KB AppleSMBIOS-27 4rd release iMac (skip by default) 80KB AppleSMBIOS-27 4rd release MacBook (skip by default) 80KB _____ Remove Thermal kexts (skip by default) 16KB Disk Image Mounter patch (skip by default) 220KB ____DRIVERS section ______VGA ________nVIDIA nVidia and OpenGL drivers (skip by default) 56.9 MB __________NVinject 128MB(skip by default)64.0KB 256MB(skip by default)64.0KB 320MB(skip by default)64.0KB 512MB(skip by default)64.0KB 640MB(skip by default)64.0KB 768MB(skip by default)64.0KB _______ATI ATInject for X1600(skip by default) 140KB ATI X1950 XT (skip by default) 15.8MB ATI HD 2xxx 3xxx (skip by default) 140KB _______Intel GMA 950(skip by default) 268KB GMA X3100(skip by default) 76KB _______AGPGart AGPGart 2.1(skip by default)1.7MB AGPGart 2.2(skip by default)1.1MB AGPGart 2.4.9(skip by default)1.3MB ______System Intel SATA ________nVIDIA 32KB nForce SATA(skip by default) 724KB Intel Speedstep(skip by default) 280KB ext2fs(skip by default) 4.0MB NTFS-3G(skip by default) 7.1MB ______Network Marvell Yukon 88E8001(skip by default) 108KB Realtek 8139(skip by default) 1MB Intel Pro/100VE (skip by default) 1.3 MB VIA Rhine (skip by default) 100KB Broadcom 440x(skip by default)168KB Atheros 5005eg(skip by default)2.5MB uff - a lot to rewrite from the screen again.. If I install it with default selection system boots up at complete install and apple logo appears on the grey background. Then after a while the progres status (rotating pin-logo) stops. Mouse arrow or colorfull baloon appears from time to time but this is the end of story. So I had to choose more: From the above I have installed (in iATKOS as Kalyway freezes at DVD boot): GMA 950(skip by default) 268KB . The installation is sucessfull - system reboots with gray background - a nice blue background appears for 1 or 2 sec and black screen. The system seems to be working fine in background but.....nothing happens. -v option goes till the end and brings up the blue background (same as above) and black screen again. I've been using the Install guide for Dell D630 - available here -> http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...600&hl=d630 but it seems that this solution is not for the latest version of releases. Will update you as soon as I get more. Now downloading Kalyway 10.5.1 and JAS to try with. .... cracko_PL
Yesss... got the fan spinning.. After installed with the above ... same situation with blue background - but I got some thoughts and connected the external LCD. after boot prompt from hard drive clicked Fn+F8 - switches between LCD few lcd blinks and you can unplug the external LCD as the laptop is working fine now! the problem is that whenever you start iAtkos - you need to have (for boot period) external LCD connected. working on it now... mr_lumbergh
Hey are you still using 10.5.2? I have been trying to install 10.5.6 and have been pulling my hair out trying to get it loaded onto my 630 . I have a 620 for work & it works fine on that one. I had no idea it would be such a pain in the butt to get the 630 up an running.
