pcguru111
Today I decided to update to 10.5.3 using apple software update. I thought I could do this because I am running efi and vanilla kernal but when installing froze at 55% and now every time I boot now I get a kernal panic. I am currently backing up all data on my osx86 partition to an external HD After that is done will re-install kalaway 10.5.2 After that, will combo update to 10.5.3 Once I am done all this, can I restore from the backup I made earlier or will it crash my system? Synaesthesia
You can't restore the entire partition, no, but you can copy back all your documents. Re-install all your applications. The same thing happened to me, an error when I updated to 10.5.2. What I did once is just re-install my OS X over my current install. (even though it was borked). Worked perfectly, it replaced all the OS X files and kept all my documents, applications etc. However the way you're going about it is the safest way.
