Robosoft Posted June 14, 2008 Share Posted June 14, 2008 Hi, Dumped some videos off my sony HDD Camcorder onto kalyway 10.5.2 build. Video worked fine after getting mpeg update for quicktime. But no sound! Sound and video work in mplayer Choppy sound and ok video in VLC Also photo booth will not record (or mayby playback) audio (on any kernel except speedstepkernel works) Using the logitech 9000 camera mic (which shows sound levels in sound input setup in every kernel) Was using onbaord alc662 sound card. now using cmi8738 Both above sound chips have the same result. Have reinstalled from scratch and still no joy. also no sound in final cut. Why would speedstepkernel work with photo booth? and why would mplayer playback my mpegs with audio. would like to get quicktime working so i can use it in cover flow. and go back to using mach_kernel because speedstepkernel is dodgy with USB. Fixed audio with the new kalyway 10.5.3 combo update. standard kernel gives me sound in photo booth. as for the mpeg audio, macs don't support mpeg2 playback with surround sound. AC3 (even video lan dosn't work!) mplayer does. so everybody with new camcorders have to first convert your stuff - slipstream works fine. its times like these that you just love windows as things work better and if they don't theres more chance of a solution. i though macs were supposed to be good for video editing !
