Hello,

The last time attempt of installing OSX in my AMD has been easy and I did it with all video hackarround in 1 day. I used Leo4all distribution v.3 and I highly recomand it to all users (AMD and Intel). So.. not that i have almost all working great, can anyone tell me how can i backup / restore the configuration (not all the system) in case of a system crash? If i save the Extensions directory and Extensions.mkext to another disk and after a system crash i reinstall OSX and paste the folder over the new one, it will work? Maybe some backup program to use if you have any ideea?

This might be usefull for a lot of users.

Many thanks,

:D I do this pretty much everytime I install something and it goes right!

What you want to do is reboot with leo4all CD in the drive. Press any key to boot from it like you are going to install it again. When it loads up, choose your language but then go to the disk utility like you are going to setup a partition to install leopard onto. Choose the physical drive (not the partition) that you have just succesfully installed leopard onto and press the button "new image". Name the image very descriptive (i.e. leopard_working_video_audio_wifi) and if possible, save it to another location or drive other than the one that has the partition currently installed to. It takes anywhere from 15-20 minutes to create the DMG but after that it'll just go back to the disc utility program. Quit disc utility, and it'll take you back to the mac installer. Quit the mac installer and it'll ask you to reboot. Reboot and continue to hose your leopard install knowing that you can format and restore the DMG if you for some reason have a kernel panic or black/blue screen of death, or what have you!

Good luck and I hope this has answered your question!

oh and some of you may be asking "why not just do it in the OS?". Well the quick answer to that is the disc utility wont let you backup the active partition while its being used. When you reboot and load the installer cd your running the os off the disc, not the drive.
