Question about the iPhone

The reason I'm posting this here is I urgently need some help (Urgently as in, need to know within the next few hours). I posted a topic in the iPhone forum but there's no one in there, so this is copy/pasted from there. Once again, sorry for polluting the forums with misplaced topics

 

Hey guys,

 

Ok, so this is the story.. My mum is in Singapore for a holiday and she said "Tell me what new phone you want". There was this other phone I wanted but told her to get me a iPhone if she finds one. Sure enough, she found one and bought it for me. I was pretty pleased until she sent a picture of the box (see picture)

 

I'm certain she's bought a fake one, but I just want to double check before I make her go to the trouble of taking it back and getting the other phone, so is it fake? I'd appreciate any response as she's coming back tomorrow so I need to know asap

I would image you could get it for free if you pick one of the higher priced rate plans. Just a thought

Thanks, Yeah it's actually out in Australia now. The only reason she bought it for me was because she was actually going to get me this, but then she found the iPhone (or so she thought) and asked which I'd prefer, so I said get the iPhone, not knowing that it's already been released in Australia. I just sent her a message telling her it's a fake, she's going to try to return it tonight. I hope it goes well

 

Edit: I'd just like to add.. I know I should have been able to tell its a fake without any questions, but I hadn't seen the 3G iPhone's yet and I didn't know if they looked different than the 1st gen ones
