Hello all. I've been trying for days to get my Atheros AR 5007 wifi working and absolutely no go. I've tried everything I've read here. Nothing. Originally I followed this guide: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=108034 because I have a 17" Compaq A900 using the same Kalyway 10.5.2 dvd.

First installed with no network checked as suggested. Even though there was an option for Atheros wifi adapter, I was skeptical. As suspected, no wifi.

Second time around I checked the Atheros wifi adapter and IO80211Family under Wifi cards. Still nothing.

The card works great in Vista, which I'm dual booting in with Leopard atm.

Any ideas, links, suggestions??

Thanks!

Okay, after reading a gazillion posts here it appears that there is no working solution for the Atheros AR 5007. Hopefully one will pop up soon enough. Does anybody know if this is currently being worked on or have any updates on the situation?

In the meantime, what other options do I have to get wifi on Leopard 10.5.2? I think I'd rather change out the physical card in the laptop that way I don't have to always carry a USB wifi adapter when I want to use Leopard. Does anybody have any suggestions about what cards are best supported for BOTH Vista and Leopard?

Thanx a ton osxers :D

The "What network cards work?" sticky topic doesn't answer your question? :(

There are several choices for PCI wireless cards that will work right out of the box. Not a lot of choices, but there are a few. Try looking in the HCL, although a lot of the info in there is hard to understand. There are a couple of miniPCI cards that work, too, but again, not too many. It all depends on the chipset as you found out.

I'm on a similar hunt except I'm looking for a card that works with XP (vista = ugh), Linux and OSX. Finding one that has good drivers for all 3 operating systems is next to impossible.

Sorry, I'll have to check out that thread.

I did find this: http://www.getpartsonline.com/396694-001.h...code=396694-001 and I think it should work but I want to read up more on it. I'll have to open up my laptop and see if it's similar to the one I have. Basically this laptop comes with either an Atheros (doesn't work) or a Broadcom (works right out of the box with Kalyway 10.5.2)

Well I would think almost every wireless card will have drivers for XP/Vista (xp = ugh ;) ). It's making it compatible with OSX that presents the problem. Not sure about Linux but there are many more ways to make drivers work with Linux distros like Madwifi I think.
