mrkittens
Do I still need to create partitions if I devote an entire drive to the OSX86 system? LonelyTV
Yes. All hard drives need to be partitioned before you install any operating system. In the case of Os X you'll be creating HFS or HFS+ partitions which means you need to repartition your drive to be as such using Drive Utility on the install DVD. It's your choice if you want to split the drive up between multiple partitions. But it's not necessary. Do I understand correctly that what I need for sure is two partitions? One for the opertaing system and the other fro everything else? Speaking of that, when installing programs do I install them in my normal program files or do i keep all Mac programs on the same mac drive? Thank you! The only time you'll need two or more is if you want to install Windows or Linux onto the same drive or if you want to make a spare partition to store stuff. However, for Os X one partition is fine. When you install programs in Os X everything will be installed into the Applications folder either by you dragging and dropping it there or by an installer script. Are you planning on using Windows or Linux along side Os X? If so, do you have a separate Hard Drive for it?
