mrkittens
It seems the during installation Kalyway is seeing the video card that came with me computer and NOT the new one I installed long ago and run all my PC programs on. Is there a way to overwrite Kalyway seeing the built in cheap video card and get it seeing my real card? Thank you! ero
It shouldn't see the old one unless both are installed. If that's the case then simply take out the one that you don't want to use. If its picking up onboard graphics, if that is what your mobo came with, then try turning off onboard video in your bios. lastly try running the appropriate kext install for your video card. i like nvinject for nvidia, not sure about AMD/ATI cards/ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/110031-kalyway-1052-trouble-with-video-card/#findComment-780852 Share on other sites

Now I have to ask what is probably going to get me laughed off the board...what is a kext install and how to do I do it? Thanks! ero
hmm...so you DO want to use the onboard card? That's trickier, I'm not sure about using onboard graphics...especially non-intel onboard graphics. However, if you decide to get a pci-e nvidia card, this is my recomended isntall: http://scottdangel.com/blog/?page_id=20 This is a huge help because the card is onboard and is nvidia. Thanks! a kext is somewhat the equivalent of a driver in windows, from what I udnerstand. search around in this forum: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showforum=151 there might be someone with a similar issue. Great thanks again. Just a note, I am NOT trying to use the nvidia (thats the onboard crappy one). I have a nice powerful ATI Radeon card I am trying to get seen been Kalyway instead of the onboard one. Thanks so much for the kext info! Thanks so much for the kext info! oh excellent, so turn off onboard in bios, conenct your monitor to the ATI card. Then look in the forum I linked you to for tons of solutions for ATI cards.
