YzorYzor
Since you have XP, use Control Panel->System Info or Device Manager and check what system you have. Then choose one of the available distros Kalway or Leo4allv3 or iAtkos. kinkster
Pretty much everything. What motherboard you have...all the parts. You can also try searching for your computer model number on the forum to see if anyone else has tried it on that machine before. But once you know your parts go to the wiki then to the list of components and see what they say. Stravaganza
Ok sorry I'm just being a nub but I really don't understand this kernel sse2 sse3 stuff. Could you explain? and again sorry.Hi Adum,SSE2 and SSE3 are the names of instruction sets. There are few important instruction sets that a processor should be able to run in order to run Mac OS X. To figure out what kinds of instruction sets your processor can handle, please visit http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php, download CPU-Z 1.45, install and run it on your machine, and post those dialog boxes showing CPU and Motherboard information in this thread. Good luck. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/108952-am-i-eligible/#findComment-772602 Share on other sites
Adum
ok here is that info for yuz. cpuz.txt Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/108952-am-i-eligible/#findComment-772754 Share on other sites
kinkster
Well that has SSE2 apparently so your good there. The next thing you need to do is get the names of different parts on your computer. This means the graphics card, your wifi, your ethernet, motherboard, etc. Im not sure how to get this information on windows.. Some one else can tell you. Stravaganza
ok here is that info for yuz.Well done. Here is what I found based on your report. Processor Intel Pentium M 750 with SSE2 RAM 1GB (2x512MB) PC2700 Graphics Intel GMA 915 or 910 (Vendor 8086, ID 2592, Revision 3) Audio C-Media AC’97 Audio Controller (Vendor 8086, ID 266E, Revision 4) Ethernet Marvell 88E8036 PCIe (Vendor 11AB, ID 4351, Revision 10) Wireless Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG (Vendor 8086, ID 4220, Revision 5) Keyboard/Mouse PS/2 You can install Mac OS X 10.5 on your machine. So my answer to your question is yes, you are eligible. Processor You will not be able to enjoy the stock (meaning Apple published and hence unmodified) kernel due to the lack of SSE3 capability on your processor. You can use, however, modified kernels which only use SSE2 instructions. You won't feel so bad as long as you don't play a media intensive game on your Hackintosh. RAM Does not matter. Graphics One thing for sure is that you will get at least 1024 x 768 resolution. I am not sure if you can get QE/CI with all resolutions. Read 9xx and 900 sections of this page http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=34068 Audio I am not sure if your audio will work or not. Read this thread http://www.insanelymac.com/lofiversion/index.php/t97201.html My nut guess is that you will get a nice audio. Ethernet You will have an Ethernet connection. You need to edit AppleYukon.kext (under /System/Library/Extensions/IONetworkFamily.kext) a little bit. Don't get scared. It's bloody easy. Wireless You will have a wireless access. The driver is here http://code.google.com/p/iwidarwin/ and instruction is here http://code.google.com/p/iwidarwin/wiki/Installation Keyboard/Mouse You will have working input devices. Read Drivers section of this page http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=35972 You may want to obtain a copy of Kalyway or Leo4All DVDs and install Mac OS X. Choose proper options based on your components. After installation if a particular component does not work, then and only then try things that I wrote above. (Kalyway or Leo4All may have solutions for you already on their DVDs.) Good luck.
