eyeforaneye
I have an external USB Sound Blaster (Model 80490) and it worked fine with 10.5.2 (Kabyl Kernel 9.2.2). Upgrading the system to 10.5.3 works (with Kalyway update) as long as new vanilla kernel is not installed. If I choose to install it, there is an issue: SB is still recognized by the system, but audio stutters and there is a lot of "screeching" noise. If I boot with -v there is some kind of error message that has something to do with appleUSBaudio and clock.get.uptime or something like it. Can't look it up now - don't want to break it again. I tried replacing AppleUSBAudio.kext with an older one without success. Is there a way to fix this, or should I just forget it and wait for a patched kernel? I am fairly new to all this, please bear this in mind while explaining things. Thanks in advance, eye Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/108942-sound-blaster-usb-no-longer-works-with-1053-kernel/ Share on other sites
Krazubu
Probably related to general USB support. EHCI isn't supported for me anymore, using older kexts isn't possible, 10.5.3 sources are not out yet, so nothing to do at the moment but it should be fixed soon. eyeforaneye
Thanks. So, I guess there is no point in getting another USB Audio solution at the moment. I was looking at Griffin iMic.
