hello!

big help needed!

i downloaded tiger 10.4.4 hotiso and created dvd, which i used for installing os x in my laptop hdd. i used 10.4.4 disk utility and it created mac partitions.

now...only tiger 10.4.4 and win98 setup can recornize my partitions, and no one else. i tried 10.4.3 disk utility and it didn't recornize my HDD either. my hdd is very expencive, so i have to find out a way to get this working. can someone give me an advice?! is there program what may fix this hdd issue? i tried partition magic and northon disk utilites, they didn't find my hdd either...

thanks...

Mac Partitions aren't compatible with Win OSs.

You have two choices:

1) boot a Linux live cd and use dd to copy the partition you want to another HD, then reformat your disk with fdisk or proceed with #2

2)Delete the Mac partitions by booting your Partition Magic CD. Pick 3 (DOS). cd \UTILITY. Run PTEDIT.

Change all fields to 0. This reinitializes your hard disk.

Good Luck!

thanks for your replay.

i tried PTEDIT, but that didn't do anything new. i put all zeros but still same situation...but the weird thing is, 10.4.4 disk utility CAN recornize my HDD and i can create partitions etc...but 10.4.3 are not. i also tried to create in 10.4.4 mac partitions, erease them etc and still 10.4.3 didn't work this. after that i created in 10.4.4 free space partitions, ms-dos partition, and still nothing..

this is picture, after i set all fields zero and then run win98 setup and choosed "fix hard drive space" http://www.kanep.info/imac/HPIM5487.JPG

If you wanna use dual boot never use disk utility from 10.4.4 - but you made this mistake.

Which wersion of 10.4.4 do you have ?? I guess 3.3GB rar archive[it has broken disk utility].Could you be more specific please ??

Besides try this http://www.9down.com/modules.php?name=News...rticle&sid=6150

maybe it will help you.

probably 10.4.3 can't do anything because of EFI

I really like this way:

If you want to dual boot and you have a blank or eraseable drive ...... Start with XP CD installer and create 3 primary partitions. Format the first ntfs or fat32 for WinXP - the second and third as fat32. You can name them what ever you want but this works well: XP - OSX - SWAP. Install windows. If you have acronis disk director install that too (not necessary but can be very helpful)

Start with the OSX dvd. Open disk utility and format 2nd partition as hfs extended (journaled or not) Install OSX. After install use the SWAP drive as go between for the two os's. I have all my media files and documents on it so they can be read by both XP and OSX.

If you have a windows install that you want to keep - use acronis to partition as above then reformat the second partition in dik utility as above.

Acronis OS selector is your friend for dual/triple booting.
