hey guys. I hate for my first post to be a new topic, but I need help haha. well, I have an optiplex GX280 SFF and I'm havin some probs with leopard. I did the flat-image install and everything works fine except for stuff haveing to do with graphics? frontrow doesnt work, screensaver doesnt work, and the albumflow on iTunes doesnt work. the genie effect hing works though and the preview for the screensaver works. but when after some time when the screensaver needs to turn on, my monitor just keeps turning on and off. my system profiler also freezes when I try and use it. the graphics {censored} root around the ATI X300 right? the available 1x PCI I had to use for a network adapter because the onboard one didnt work. I tried finding out if there were any drivers but I couldnt. the other 16x PCI slot has my sound card in it. any ideas guys? I would love to use iLife and frontrow and stuff, iMovie and iWeb especially. please help me out. thanks! :(

For the onboard network you might consider this thread and try the hexedit based solution: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...0&start=720

The Broadcom 57xx series chipset ist somewhat tricky, though, and it might not work with your machine in particular. My machine ist quite the same, I guess: Optiplex GX280 running Kalyway 10.5.2 (Celeron 2,53Ghz, 1GB RAM, 40GB SATA, slim IDE, USB based Belkin WLAN adapter). Any hackintosh proven USB or PCI based network/WIFI card will work anyway, so there is nothing to worry about. I haven´t tried the Broadcom hack yet, but will give notice if I succeed.

The onboard graphics won´t - as far as I know - ever give you full QE support, so you are best based with any low profile PCI-Express video card. I myself use a NVIDIA 7200gs (NATIT driver), which is sufficient enough for my workload. But you need to switch off the onboard video in BIOS first, so the PCI-Express graphics is recognized and utilized. Any videocard with driver support will give you full graphic capabilities.

System Profiler won´t work at all, so keep your hands off this area: This is due to driver/hardware incompatibilites. It´s not really needed anyways, just annoying.

My recommondations: Get a cheap, for your needs sufficient low profile PCI-Express based video card, do a Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD install (with CPU=1 flag chosen, select all network drivers, chose video drivers according to your graphiccard). Get the USB v1.3 fix and off you go.

Go to Dell's Site and pull the specs for your computer. Motherboard, CPU, Chipset, Audio and built in video.

Check these posts. If you find out the answers to some of your questions reply back here with the results and well go from there.
