AndrewH
Hey guys, Long story short, I was here a couple of years ago when a lot of this kicked off, then I joined the Army, and my last post here was actually right before I left for the Army, anyhow fast forward, I finished all my training, and got sent to Iraq, where I've been for a year or so, plus I bought a real Mac, but now the opportunity has come upon me again to try and install OSX on a PC :-D This is actually a 1U rackmount server that I got really cheap, and I would prefer OSX on there as it is going to be serving my AppleTV and encoding DVD's etc mainly. Here's the specs: 2x AMD OPTERON 265 DC 1.8GHZ Processors 4GB DDR2 ECC 1x FAST IDE 7200RPM 80GB Hard Disk Drive 2x Broadcom NeXtreme 100/1000 Gigabit Adapters OnBoard nForce Nvidia 4PORT SATAlink Controller (RAID 0,1,5,0+1) 1x ATI RAGE XL 8MB Onboard Video Card TYAN THUNDER K8SR Dual Opteron Motherboard I searched for Tyan and the works, but just a bunch of Xeon motherboards came up, so if anyone has had any luck with this kind of setup, please do let me know, or if the hardware is compatible or not. Thanks again, Andrew Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/108117-havent-been-here-in-awhile-will-this-computer-work/ Share on other sites
rafafre
Haha. That's what I call an old thread. Anyway, I've installed Kalyway on it. All works. Video in Vesa mode. IDE Hard drive very slow. To install, boot the DVD with the HD in primary master and DVD in primary slave and go!
