I want to update my mac to 10.5.3. It is a hackintosh originally 10.5.1 updated to 10.5.2. I'm going to use this guide.

I have a couple quick questions before I do so.

1) How do I backup my hackintosh so when I do update, I have a backup.

1) a. If my hackintosh does crash after update, how do I bring it back to 10.5.2?

2) How do I backup my extensions folder? I know that after I do the update, and if it's successful, I will have to reinstall all my kexts.

3) Using the guide, it says this:

Replace the line Dont Steal Mac OS X.kext with dsmos.kext

What do I actually do to 'replace' the line? Do I actually click and drag, highlight Dont Steal Mac OS X.kext and type in dsmos.kext to 'replace' it or what? (*Be specific here PLEASE*)

3) (random) Just for kicks, I can't get my hot corner working. I have spaces working and hot corners configured, just when I click in the corners I have configured, nothing happens (like I didn't even select a hot corner, I'm just clicking on the background of the desktop).

Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

1. I personally use time machine to backup my hack

1.a) Restore using time machine - reinstall efi bootloader

2. in terminal type:

sudo cp -R -L -p /system/library/extensions /system/library/extensionsbackup

3.

-in terminal type (sudo -s before doing the update!!):

nano /System/InstallAtStartup/scripts/1

-find the line of text that has Dont Steal Mac OS X.kext in it and replace it with dsmos.kext

-press ctrl-O (might be alt or window key on your keyboard) to save the file, then ctrl-x to exit nano.

4. move your mouse cursor all the way into the corner and hold it there. you don't need to click
