Ok so after reading up on this forum for awhile I decided to go ahead and try to build a system rather than buying a new mac but I've run into a roadblock.

I can't seem to get the system to boot from my DVD drive. It's an SATA Lite-On drive and after setting the SATA to AHCI it recognizes the Lite On so I made it number one in the boot priority. The system reads the proper amount of RAM, recognizes the processor as a 2.5Ghz Quad Core Intel, and finds both the hard drive and the DVD Drive.

When I start the system it starts up and runs throught the POST it seems like then after the SATA BIOS portion runs where it detects the SATA drives the screen goes blank and nothing happens. The light on the DVD drive doesn't come on and it isn't spinning the disk. I've tried a Leo4all v3 image and a Windows XP disc in the drive but I don't even think it matters what's in there since it doesn't seem to be getting that far.

There are no error messages displayed, I reflashed the BIOS to the latest version, .f3n, using a usb drive, and I disconnected everything from the system but a PS/2 keyboard, the DVD drive, the RAM (which I have tried in both slots), and the video card (no onboard video so I have to keep it connected). I've also tried to boot from an external USB DVD drive but it doesn't even recognize it's there. I'm about out of ideas. I guess I'll get ahold of a floppy drive and see if it will boot from that, but that's the last idea I have.

If anybody has any ideas or any experience with this please help me out, I'm thinking it might be a bad motherboard or DVD drive but I'm hoping I'm just missing something.

Thanks
