detection
Hello there. I'm new to the Hackintosh community, or at least I hope to be, if I ever manage to get mine going. InsanelyMac and the OSx86 Project have been wonderful and I'm hoping to find some help. I'm using the Kalyway 10.5.2 installation DVD. I burned the ISO at 4x speed in MagicISO. My system specs are as follows: Gateway ESSEX2 4000811 Desktop PC 3.07 gHz Intel Pentium 4 Processor Intel Corporation D845GERG3 AAC29595-101 Motherboard 250GB hd (200GB partition for XP, ~50GB for future Leopard, hopefully) 1GB RAM Most of my hardware is on the compatibility list, save for my motherboard. The only information I could find on my board was a single post by someone installing Tiger, with no information other than they successfully installed. So when I insert my Kalyway disc and boot, I receive this error: "EBIOS read error: Controller or Device error Block 2645424 Sectors 64" After searching for this error, not many people seem to have this particular EBIOS error, and reburning the disc does not help (which I didn't feel it would, seeing as it's not a disc read error). I'm thinking the only thing left could be to change something in my BIOS (what, I have no idea)... unless I'm missing something entirely. Can anyone explain this error, or have any ideas to get the installation going? Thanks! detection
Now I've tried Kalyway 10.5.1 and iATKOS v1.0 R2, both of which got to the same point then gave me the EBIOS error again. The Kalyway DVD got up the the Darwin loading screen, but then gave me either a "Loading HFS+ file: [/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist] from 4339bd0. HFS Signature not present" if I don't press F8, or if I do press F8 and use the -v switch, I get the same EBIOS error as before. iATKOS (if it even boots, oftentimes it just displays 'E'), did virtually the same, except that when it gave me the EBIOS error, it then when to another black screen with loads of text saying things like "BSD proces name... Unknown", "Mac OS Version: Not yet set", and "Kernel Version: Darwin Kernel...." Is there any way to surpass the EBIOS error at all? Perhaps different F8 switches? Anything?
