larsbo
First post. Great forum! Asus P5P800 P4 3.2 Ghz Nvidia 7400gs 2 gig kingston M-audio Revo 7.1 (Still in mobo, dont work in osx and wont ever) Logitech MX5500 keyb/mouse Panther Kalyway 10.5.2 Now, the main reason to write this post, is the sound driver that many seems to be troubled by. To me its a very important issue. Without DD/DTS analog output, i would never touch osx86. But it works perfect, with a twist. THe channels are not sent from the desired outputs... (Right surround in center, and so on) But thats not a driver issue. Thats poor vlc translation i think. And the decoder itselves sounds crappy on highend audio gear. That could be blamed on asus ac97, never used it in XP. But i'm pretty sure its the VLC audio codec thats poor for mac. In XP it sounds good. Maybe those of you who can't get sound to work should try opening "audiomidisetup", if not allready tried. Choose the second instance of AC97 Audio (PCM). Then AC3 config shows up:-). In VLC you have to force "Dolby Surround" Default mode is auto. Try connecting to center/sub or surround output instead of front. Dont mac people like home theaters? If they do, hoe come there are no serious soft players beside "VLC" and that crappy "Frontrow"? The only issue i cant figure out, is to get panther to run stable USB bus. I've connected NI Audio Control ONe, and installed the drivers from NI's site, But I have to reboot several times / reinstall drivers to get it up and running. Small issue, but the only one I can think of. I've made a triple OSX install before I figured the right install, for 3 days ago, and I love it! I'm a pro musician, and Logic Studio 8 runs so smoooooth!!! Best luck with your OSX86 :-) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/105347-my-config-works/ Share on other sites
