Ok, so my mouse has been giving me issues, I'm guessing it's the stupid Logitech software, either that or I've got a bad USB cable, which is possible because it's several years old. Long story short, I pulled up Activity monitor for the first time in awhile, and lo and behold, one of my four processor cores is running CONSTANTLY. Every now and then it'll switch cores, but there are NO processes that seem to be using it! Furthermore, it says that it's the "User" who's doing it! I've tried using a different user acct, same deal. Tried rebooting, same deal.

This isn't just a weird misreading either, I just ran Geekbench again and my score was down into the 5400's, instead of the six-thousand range, which is where it ought to be.

Anybody have any advice as to where I need to look for this glitch and how to troubleshoot it? Could this be a hardware issue? If so, wouldn't Activity Monitor list it as "System" activity and not "User"?

Thanks in advance for any ideas, see my sig for my specs.

gawd, that was so horribly obvious... I entirely neglected to notice that I was only seeing MY processes.

*hangs head in shame* just flog me now.

...and to think, I did many a reboot plugging and unplugging various pieces of hardware looking for conflicts, I even undid my overclock... but it was just a damned print manager!!!

Thank you.
