So I'm building a new hackintosh after my last Tiger one met its end thanks to some lightning.

my specs are (its cheap btw :)):

gigabyte GA-945GCM-S2C

e1200 celeron

1 gig ram

74gb WD raptor sata HD

I'm starting totally from scratch, so no previous install.

I boot off of a Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD

Partition the entire HD with GUID

Then I attempted to install EFI v8 using method 2 for not having osx installed at all from http://www.insanelymac.com/lofiversion/index.php/t73952.html after having unmounted all partitions:

"cd /Volumes/123/pc_efi_v80

./startupfiletool /dev/rdisk0s2 ./boot_v8

dd if=./guid/boot1h of=/dev/rdisk0s2 bs=512 count=1

dd if=./guid/boot0 of=/dev/disk0 bs=400 count=1"

Reboot the computer, and I get the message "config com.apple.boot.plist not found" as expected, so it looks like I'm good to go.

Install 10.5.2 from the kalyway DVD, reboot, and bam "disk boot failure, insert system disk"

Try going back in to the DVD and reinstalling EFI from my usb, which is supposed to make the disk bootable right?

Same problem.

What am I doing wrong or missing?

I think I figured it out, I just booted into leopard :)

go into your bios and set the sata option under peripherals to "enhanced"

the installer dvd was able to see the drive just fine, but for booting purposes the motherboard wasn't seeing the sata HD until I changed that setting.
