jya
Hi By curiosity of course, I installed MacOS X 10.4.3 on a 3.4Ghz PC (with SSE3). Everything went fine Except that networking doesn't work (I have a AOpen motherboard with a broadcom chipset), and my nvidia 6500 card is recognised as a VGA card and only get a 1024x768 screen. I thought about trying update to 10.4.5, however all install guide refers to a 10.4.3 -> 10.4.4 -> 10.4.5 step. I do not have a 10.4.4 DVD (well I did, but lost the DVD that came with my Intel iMac 17") Is it possible to update from 10.4.3 to 10.4.5 directly? or it must bo through 10.4.4. Where could I find a link with such explanation? I've read all install guide available here and found nothing Also, what is NX/XD, "CPU without NX/XD", there's extensive explanation about SSE2 and SSE3 on the wiki, but nothing about NX/XD Thanks for the help Jean-Yves Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/10478-updating-from-1043-success-stories/ Share on other sites
jya
** bump ** Can anybody answer if it's possible to upgrade from 10.4.3 to 10.4.5 without going through 10.4.4 ? When I try running the Apple 10.4.5 update it tells me that this update can not be installed on this computer. I used http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/mac...45forintel.html Usually this kind of error is what you get when trying to install an update that isn't a Combo (e.g. works for any earlier version of macos) JY Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/10478-updating-from-1043-success-stories/#findComment-65961 Share on other sites
acidream
10.4.5 is a small upgrade package and not based off of a restore DVD. So until the 10.4.5 restore DVD becomes available I'm pretty sure you'll need to have 10.4.4 installed to upgrade. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think thats the case. Ma__uss' 10.4.5 instructions also rely on using the 10.4.4 kernel, so I think you'll need that as well.
