slugsly
I installed with the 10.4.4 dvdhat patched to 10.4.5 from demonoid.com. It installed fine, but is so slow it isn't useable. The computer is a hp laptop with nvidia chipset, amd 64 2.4ghz cpu and 1.25gb ram. What types of things would make it o slow? How can I check that I have the right patches applied? (like amd enabler) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/10420-new-install-slow/ Share on other sites
ehh
I also successfully installed 10.4.4 using the 3.3GB D-mn-oid DVD, though, on a Thinkpad X40. It also feels slow for me. slugsly
Slow is an understatement... it's comparable to running winxp and a 486 with 64mb of ram =( Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/10420-new-install-slow/#findComment-65096 Share on other sites
slugsly
... running "top" from a terminal window a process called "kextcach" is running at 40%-60%, could this be part of my problem? Damian
The fact that your install isnt meant for a 2.4ghz, you dont have SSE3, most likely dont have NX/DX, and alot of macs have 2gigs + of ram...thats only reasons why ithink its probably slow :-P Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/10420-new-install-slow/#findComment-65232 Share on other sites
