deba Posted May 10, 2008 Share Posted May 10, 2008 Hi, I'm new to the OSx86 scene, only done a test install on an old Msi-7093 board which worked. Now I would like to replace my 1st Generation Intel iMac 20" (Core Duo 2.16ghz, 250gb HD, 2gb Ram) with a Hackintosh. Today I have Purchased the following parts so far: Asus P5k Board Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Retail CPU 1gb DDR2 667mhz Memory (I'll get another matching 1gb tomorrow) Still need to get a 500gb Sata HD, and will use my existing Antec case & IDE DVD/RW, but replace the 350w psu for a 500w My question is what video card should i go for with this?, currently looking at a 8800/8600GTS 256/512mb Card is this ok? Current Spec: Asus P5K Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Retail CPU 1GB DDr2 667mhz Buffalo 200gb Sata HD GeForce 8600GT 1GB Empirex 16x DVD/RW (Had to use ide-to-sata adaptor for dvd to boot) Used Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD, All working ok except onboard NIC (any patch for this?) Also my cpu is not recognized it says 2.4gz unknown. System profiler says 0 processors & total cores 1 How do i fix this anyone?. Just curious as to why you are asking if the LAN will work or not, figured you would have checked to confirm everything worked on that MB before you purchased... deba Posted May 13, 2008 Author Share Posted May 13, 2008 Yes I did my research, I knew the onboard wouldn't work, but I'm certain i've seen someone using a 3com card. Its shows up as en0 in the profile but under networks its disabled. If i ifconfig en0 , no such device. I have managed to get a Belkin USB Wireless stick (Ralink Drivers) working in the mean-time. Still don't what's up with the 0 processors & 1 core ? Showing? Any other P5k installations with Kalyway 10.5.2 out there?.
