I am considering getting a Dell Vostro 1310. I think I am getting a great deal from Dell on this notebook, but I am not sure.

I do not know if I will have any issues with these specs and would greatly appreciate any comments.

These are the specs:

Vostro 1310, Intel Core 2 Duo T5870, 2.0GHz, 800MHz FSB, 2M L2 Cache

13.3 inch Widescreen WXGA LCD TrueLife

1GB, DDR2, 667MHz 2 DIMM

128MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS Graphics

160GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive with Free Fall Sensor

Integrated High Definition Audio 2.0

Dell Wireless 1395 802.11g Mini Card

Integrated 1.3 Mega Pixel Webcam and Digital Microphone

8X DVD+/-RW with double-layer DVD+/-R write capability

Intel 965PM Express chipset + 128MB NVIDIA® GeForceTM 8400M GS (64 bit) Graphic Card

Biometric fingerprint reader

For any Canadians that are interested, I have this quoted at $886.07 (gst and pst included).

For the wireless, these are my other options:

Dell Wireless 1505 Wireless-N Mini-card or

Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG 802.11a/g Wi-Fi Mini-card or

Intel 4965AGN Wireless-N Mini-card or

Bluetooth: Dell Wireless 360 Bluetooth Module

I was also wondering if both cores will work.

Thank you very much for your help.

So would I encounter many problems with this configuration? I haven't been able to find much information regarding sound, lan and wifi.

I would love to get this but am still anticipating a response from someone with more knowledge on the matter than myself.

I have found some posts that mention having only 1 core on for Leopard to boot (through the bios). They mention the Intel 965PM chipset. Here is one of them

If this is the case, I will choose another laptop as I would like to buy one for under 900$ that can run properly. I have thought about purchasing an macbook, but it is too expensive for me right now.

I would go with Windows, but since I have a Mac desktop and have no patience for Window, a Macbook clone is essential.

Are there any recommendations for laptops I can purchase? I live in Quebec Canada right now and usually search redflagdeals.com for current deals on laptops. If anyone knows of other online shops that I can find a macbook that works well OOB, please send me a link.

Even for a desktop: that would let me build a hackintosh, sell my iMac and buy a MacBook.

;)

Thanks
