stubert Posted May 6, 2008 Share Posted May 6, 2008 Hello. I have repeatedly installed the Kalyway 10.5.1 sse2 and sse3 ISO. The installation process boots up fine, I format my drive with mbr. I've tried a few different configurations and I have found that unchecking vanilla and unchecking sse2 works best (even though I do NOT have an sse3 system--its only sse2). I also change the efi bootloader to mbr. The installation says it completes normally, and then it moves into the registration process. I have been able to get into the OS just fine -- but once I restart, the os will not boot and it simply displays a blinking cursor in the top left of the screen. I cannot press any buttons nor type in anything, the cursor simply remains blinking. The hard drive light remains on, but blinks on and off whenever I press a button on the keyboard - also momentarily turning off when I press enough keys that the pc speaker starts beeping. The os will not boot after the installation is successful! No apple logo, no nothin! My setup is... Gateway M380 Laptop Intel Centrino mobile chip ... SSE2 only 2.13GHz 2GB RAM 100GB SATA hard drive Intel Pro ...2200bg (I think?) wireless X300 Raedon mobility (I think???--or was it X700?) Any ideas? If I can successfully get into the OS after the installation is complete (the machine does not restart at this point, it moves into the registration process and intro video) what should I edit/run/do to make sure everything will come back up once I restart? Side note, where I can I find the video drivers for the Raedon series below 1xxx? wuilly Posted May 8, 2008 Share Posted May 8, 2008 i had to install Jas 10.4.8 with a erase in that install. then before tiger start (afther the reboot) i install leopard but there i dod not do an erase. and only selected ef? for MBR that was the only way i got it to boot.
