Hi guys, this is my first post here.Well, first of all, this is the configuration of my pc:AMD Athlon 64 x2 4000+Asrock ALiveNF7G-VSTA (nvidia geforce 7050 with 256mb integrated)4 Gb Ramtwo SATA HDD, one with Windows x64, the other empty just for Leopardone EIDE HDD with Windows XP Proscsi Dvd-Rom and Cd-Romusb external plextor Dvd-romUsing the external drive, I can boot the Kalyway dvd-rom.At first, I tried to install Leopard on the SATA HDD, but I guess due to incompatibility of drivers, SATA HDDs did not show in disk utility. So I boxed it in an usb external case and I could be able to perform the installation, which seemed to complete successfully. However, when it ended and the system rebooted, all I got (and still get) is a black screen with a flashing underscore on the top-left corner of the screen. The kernel I have installad is the 9.2.Any help would be greatly appreciated!!Ah, don't know if it cares, but the unit in which I have installed Leopard has Apple Partition Map as partition map scheme, since I am not interested in installing other Os on the same disk..

if you are not interested in other os used guid scheme, when installation done use f8 ---> -s --->fsck -y / when tha is done then mount -uw /

--> movevideodrivers / at prompt just type yes then it will continue to boot and also before this in terminal you might want to flag your partition use this

fdisk -e /dev/disk0

flag x ! x depends on your partition no.

write !say yes

update !say yes too

exit

Hi ricki, thanks for your reply.

I tryed to do what you said, but before the flashing "_" appears (and when it is on the screen), pressing f8 makes no consequences at all. It just try for a little bit, than since the boot fails, the booting system try to look for an Os on other destination rather than USB, finds Windows x64 on another Hdd and I get x64 loading screen.

After the installation, if I try to boot again from Kalyway Dvd, pressing f8 works, but it tells me that the only bootable volume available is the Kalyway Dvd, there is no apparent track of the Leopard installation.. am I missing something?

Well, since I'm an Apple G5 user, I committed a nice error! ^^;

I mean, the Apple Partition Map is bootable only for ppc, I guess..

So, I formatted again the driver using guid, I've installed the OS and then I am able to see that at least the booting process from the hdd containing Leopard starts..

but now, I've another problem: it stops prompting the message "Still waiting for root device"..

It's me again :P

Well, after a few adjustment on the bios settings, I thoght that maybe the hdd putted inside of an external box could work using the internal sata interface, so I give it a try. And... well, the system now seems to boot, no more "waiting for root device" problem, but it stops here:

[current date&time] localhost /usr/sbin/ocspd[79]: starting

uhm, I hope I can have a complete boot within today... :D

EDIT:

I tried again now and the booting sequence hangs at one line further. I don't know, I think I'll just let it be for a while and see what happends.
