tiger dvd install tutorial

Hello,

 

sorry if this has been asked before but i havent managed to find it trawling for an hour through the forums.

 

The only tutorials i can find are those with a patched/manipulated image of os x tiger.

I want to be able to buy the tiger dvd and install from that to a PC.

I am looking for the tutorial to see if i can do it as i dont have an original mac. I will be buying a motherboard to suit tiger since windows and linux pretty much cover most motherboards.

 

so can anyone point me to a legal dvd install on a pc?

great questions. There is questions whether doing this is illegal or legal. There is no way you can patch up tiger you will have to get that from a torrent ex:JAS 10.4.8 But you can patch up leopard with brazilmacs patch. You will not be able to install osx off the retail dvd because pc motherboards and mac motherboards are different. If you want a cheap way to build a 100% legal mac you can build a mac pro with parts from apple palace.

By "patch up" do you mean after its installed initially getting updates doesnt work?

 

Its says in the FAQ that a newbie like me should start hackintosh builkding with tiger as most problems have been ironeed out. However you are saying that leopard can be patched up and so is the best  place to start with osx86?

 

Okay i cant install from retail dvd

I was hoping there was some way of fooling the dvd thats its a mac motherboard

 

Being paranoid and from a security point of view I dont like the idea of having a dodgy copy of an OS downloaded and run. Would i be able to get the torrent and then install the retail copy of a dv

 from within

osx? This will then completely replace the os and allay my security fears.

You make no mention of the hardware you are *thinking* about installing to.

 

What you should do is read up on a thing called EFI.

This is as good a place as any to start:

In a way it is a "qualifier" for Mac software to run on Mac hardware (it's other things too, but I'm simplifying things)

 

Now, stop to consider the specific "manufacturer only" Vista installs, and the emulator that was developed to trick Vista into *thinking* you were installing on a OEM computer.

 

The very same thing is availaible in Mac, it is called: PC_EFI V8.0

Searching with google for: "PC_EFI V8.0 download" should throw you some results, and once you have it up and running whatever it is running on appears to be a Mac.

Yes i dont mention what hardware i am thinking of as I want to know if i can do it with a retail dvd before i investigate further.

 

Okay so a pc can fool the retail dvd into thinking its on a mac according to psystar.   I was hoping something like this efi might have a tutorial on this forum.

Looking at the topic 76404 "guide" it looks like hes already got leopard installed before hes used a downloaded image of leopard. There doesnt seem to a complete history of how hes gone about the install.

 

I get the impression from the wiki HCL that the brazilmac is closest to what i want however all the boards listed seem to have issues. They can be solved by patches but i was hoping for a motherboard that works without patching. Buying a motherboard for a hackintosh i thought i might be able to get one that works somewhere.

 

The cheap method you were talking about is of little interest to me as i prefer to build my own systems and would want a dual core setup so its a significant upgrade from my athlon xp 2400 as its going to be my main machine.

 

thanks for the help its justs seems to be difficult getting a retail real dvd install going without a previous hackintosh or genuine mac install.
