Specs:

Athlon64 3200+

Asus K8V SE Deluxe mobo (VIA KT800 chipset)

Samsung 1GB PC3200DDR RAM

Radeon 9000 Pro 128MB

120GB Seagate HD on onboard VIA SATA controller

I've got an 8GB partition on the drive that I plan to install on, so I've got to convert that to HFS+, right?

I go to the Disk Utility before the install, and it only shows the DVD in there and my Pioneer DVD drive. No harddrive.

Any ideas? I can't find any answers for this elsewhere on the board. Thanks guys and girls!

{edit} It seems that I missed the "create partition primary id=af" in diskpart. After I made the partition in Partition Magic 8.01, I went to do that and it told me that the partition could not be created. After further investigation here deep into the archives, it seems that this step is wholly necessary so that the OS X installer will see my HD.

How do I go about setting that id=af to the 8GB partition that I've got?

Supposedly SATA is supported on VIA chipsets if you have the AppleVIAATA.kext. Unlike nForce chipsets which don't work at all. It's in the Wiki, but doesn't show you how to get the driver (DMCA I guess). Try searching the forum for it, if you want to make it work. Personally I don't have a VIA chipset so I never dealt with it. But I know I have seen discussions about it on here... :)
