norcalrivercat
So im posting thing from my hp computer running Zephyroth 10.5.2. Now i'm wondering if it's safe to use apple updater, or maybe only for certain things? I installed everything except a bunch of languages i'll never need. I installed ToH 9.0.2 or something like that, but there was to ToH options, one with .1 and one with .2. I did .2. is that the vanilla thing? or does zephy not support apple update at all? thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/103091-how-do-i-know-if-i-have-vanilla-kernel/ Share on other sites
mac_cute
The vanilla kernel only works on a Intel based PC.So,there is no vanilla kernel for AMD.Never use Software Update:is more safe download the update from Apple and see if it needs to be patched.Zephyroth is working in something that may be interesting, just check this http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=103009 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/103091-how-do-i-know-if-i-have-vanilla-kernel/#findComment-734586 Share on other sites
norcalrivercat
Thanks for the quick reply, ya i was reading about earlier, I'm considering trying it. So lets say i do download the update from apple, how would I go about patching that. I have something called "Marvin's AMD utility". Is that what I would use? thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/103091-how-do-i-know-if-i-have-vanilla-kernel/#findComment-734593 Share on other sites

Is that what I would use? thanks Yes,that is what you should use.For example, open (extract) the package with Pacifist. Then open Marvin's AMD utility and search for some cpuids (for example). If you are not very sure about how to use it and patch and update or whatever, just wait instructions (if there is any problem with any update for AMD,here you will find instructions for sure) Why to wait for instructions?.Not always you are going to do the same procedure... If you want to know a little more about the utility,go to the thread http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=67917 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/103091-how-do-i-know-if-i-have-vanilla-kernel/#findComment-734604 Share on other sites
