I have been looking for a couple of weeks now & have only found one person who has posted succcess using the 10.4.11 kernel with a SSE2 only setup. He used GUID EFI setup.

Post your experiences & let us know, Did you get it to work? if so how?

In pcwiz's newbie guide he says "some problems have been reported" using 10.4.11 kernel with sse2 only. In the 10.4.11 HCL under portables, only two laptops are listed.

So whats up? Is it so hopeless trying to get this to work that its not even woth discussing, or has interest in Leopard made everyone lose interest in Tiger?

My experience is that I have had absolutely no success with this kernel, tried efi & no_efi. Kernel panic's. I can get further into the boot by tweaking my kexts. First ACPI then APIC then... but still end up with panic. In the absence of any relevant info I gave up on it for the moment. I like to discover but my skills are not up to "flying solo" in this.

I started off using Leopard 10.5.2. Works very well except amost no graphics or video playback with my Video card, so I switched to using 10.4.11 with 10.4.8 universal (ToH 8.9.1) kernel. Works pretty well, have QE but no CI. QE works but not very well. I cant actually configure any program to use it (eg VLC player, DVD player), but it does work, just about.

I have some dependency problems with AGPGart (IOPCIFamily, IOKit and a few other IO kexts) that are difficult to fix. Thinking it might be because I am using the old kernel.

I've being trying to get it work no luck

SSE2 10.4.11 no EFI > kernel panic with acpiplatform

SSE2 10.4.11 with efi > boot to gui, stays there with blue screen and cursor

What i need is to have a working sse2 working on tiger with speedstep. WHen i use speedstep, the fsb even if set in com.boot, is used to scale the speed, so if i decrease cpu frequency, the whole system become slow ;)

NEED HELP : HOW to have 10.4.11 SSE2 kernel working ? How to have SSE2 speedstep under tiger with right speed ?

PS : i dont use leo, as it doesnt support my built in gfx ...

have given up on 10.4.11 kernel until I see a post from someone who has it working with SSE2 only, wasted enough time on it.

I had to use the older 10.4.8? (ToH 8.9.1) universal kernel option on XxX rev2. Havent investigated speedstep, but have ACPI working.

Guessing you need to get longer battery life. I cant boot from battery power unless I set CPU to run at full speed and disable all power saving features in BIOS. So speedstep wouldn't help me.

Not sure but I think it works running on mains power. question is: what use is that?

I had the same problem with my Compaq Evo D510 P4 2.4 (SSE2 only), I tried mac.nub, uphuck, kalyway and then i tried the Base Install SSE2 on the XxX 10.4.11 disk Rev 2.0, and IT WORKS GREAT, I got QE/CI with Titan, LAN and sound worked out of the box, and installed all the other updates,(iLife, iWork, Office 2008, Java, Etc..) just fine, the only wierd quirk is that Toast 9 wont work stuck with toast 8.0.1, (8.0.3 didn't work either)

have only found one person who has posted success using the 10.4.11 kernel with a SSE2 only setup.

I am running the "8.9.1 Kernel Universal Apr 23" with the "Apple Combo update 10.4.11".
